There are many ways to auto post WordPress posts to Facebook but in this article I will focusing on how to use IFTTT to achieve it.
IFTTT (if this then that) is an automation service website which can help you automate many activities ranging from online and offline activities. You can use their service to auto-post to any social media of your choice. To get started you should have the following:
- WordPress blog
- Facebook page
- IFTTT account
The ifttt account is free and so you can just signup with your email. Login to the new ifttt account and click on “My Applet” and select the “Services” tab as seen on the screenshots below
Select the services tab
Under the services browse for Facebook Pages and then select it. Now you will have to link the Facebook page you want your WordPress post to be auto posted on. Make sure you are logged into your Facebook account, when you click on connect it will ask for your permission to access your Facebook pages. After the authorization it will be able to pull all the pages under your account, you can easily select the page you want to use from the list and complete the connection.
Next is time to create an applet that will consume the service we created earlier. Our applet should be able to connect with our WordPress website so click on New Applet. Click on the “If This” button and search for WordPress, you will be able to see the WordPress service so click on it.
Search for the WordPress service as shown in the screenshot below
IFTTT will now ask you to connect your WordPress site. Click on the connect button to continue.
This will bring up a popup where you will be asked to enter your WordPress site’s address, your login email or username, and your WordPress password.
Select when any new post is made on your blog as the action trigger as seen below
Now the action trigger is set the next step is to complete the “THAT” which is to post on Facebook page. Click on the “THAT” button as seen in the screenshot below.
Search for facebook page and select it, then the action will be to create a link post on the Facebook page as seen o the screenshot below
IFTTT will show you action settings. Here you can change how you want the post to appear on Facebook. Adding only your post link will allow Facebook to automatically fetch post title, description, and thumbnail. Now click on the create action to complete the action.
That’s all, you have successfully setup automatic posting to Facebook from WordPress using IFTTT. You can now click on the Finish button to exit the applet setup wizard.
